Lights, sockets, heating and fans controlled from a phone app or a voice assistant over WiFi, rather than from a wall switch alone.

The practical benefit is scheduling and remote control: turning heating on before you get home, putting lights on a timer, or dimming without a dimmer circuit. The trade-offs are real too — WiFi devices depend on your network and app, so a switch still needs to work manually when the internet is down.
